Walk this Weigh!

exercise

exerciseSeniors, these past few weeks have been rough! We are in the middle of a pandemic, massive protests, and its hurricane season again. Instead of staring blankly at toxic news cycles, step outside and go for a walk. Walking is an excellent way to get a nice kick of endorphins (a chemical released into your body when you exercise). This organic version of morphine helps reduce your perception of pain and triggers an overall positive feeling. Walking 30 minutes every day can also:

  • Increase cardiovascular fitness
  • Make your bones stronger
  • Help you lose weight
  • Increase your muscle strength
  • Elongate endurance.

Those are some fantastic benefits! It is almost unbelievable how such a simple task can have such a massive effect on our health. Getting physical activity does not have to be strenuous or expensive. A simple walk outside is free and can be done at any time of the day! If you find the thought of walking 30 minutes every day daunting, start slowly. Remember, even a ten-minute walk is better than nothing! So, get your walk on and add a little pep into your step. We could all use a dose of “happy” from our endorphins.
