Shiela McKay-Vaughan has an extensive background in business, sales, service and public life. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and while she was raising her children in Pittsburgh, she received a Business Administration Certificate from Carlow College. Shiela was a City Commissioner in Daytona Beach. She served on state and national boards as a member of the National League of Cities where she received the Platinum Award for service, their highest national award. She has also served as a board member for the National League of Women. Ms. McKay-Vaughn organized six neighborhood associations in Daytona Beach, giving citizens a chance to learn and to ask questions about government and its policies. For two years, she served as President of the Women’s Club of Daytona Beach.
Her public service credits are too many to list in a short biography. She has been very active in causes that aid homeless people in the Daytona area. To help homeless children improve their reading skills, she established an ongoing reading program and taught there for 8 years. She is truly a “Good Samaritan” and had the honor of serving on the board of the Good Samaritan Society for 5 years. The Good Samaritan Society is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to finding help for seniors. Shiela McKay-Vaughn is now a Senior Placement Consultant, helping seniors with the host of problems, questions, options and decisions that must be faced when transitioning to a senior lifestyle. It would be difficult to imagine a person whose background and experience better qualify them for this task!
