Coronavirus Update for Seniors!

coronavirus

coronavirusSeniors, there are more than 375,000 cases of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) circling the world. As of March 23, there was a minimum of 39,819 cases across every American state. However, there is no need to panic. One of the reasons why there is a spike in reported cases is due to more testing kits being handed out across the nation. This new access to packages was predicted by experts to create a rise in the confirmed number of outbreaks. We are living in historical times, and we must stay strong by uniting. If we all practice social distancing, we can stop and slow down the spread of this highly contagious virus. If you have self-quarantined, practicing excellent hygiene will help spread the virus within your home.
Here are a few tips to help you prevent the spread of COVID-19 inside your home:

  • Do not have close contact with anyone sick
  • Stay home especially if you are sick (unless you are getting medical care)
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue
  • Actively clean surfaces and objects like tables, doorknobs, and light switches, with detergent and water

There is a 14-day incubation period for COVID-19, but people usually see effects within five days. So, stay inside and stay informed. You may have come in contact with the virus and could be a carrier who spreads it to someone else. If we all do our part, we can beat this pandemic and avoid massive losses in our community. Stay away from constant updates of the virus and continue cultivating a healthy senior lifestyle indoors!
Readers, if you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, call your nearest medical facility and seek care right away. If you have an underlying condition like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or respiratory conditions, stay away from crowded areas or places. These guidelines were provided by both the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. There is no need to panic but stay informed.
