OurSeniors.net Welcomes Gena Fernandez

OurSeniors.net has been growing at an unbelievable clip. Only a few short years ago, our organization consisted of a modest web presence and a small staff that concentrated on finding the best senior assisted living and memory care living facilities available to our readers. We were active in the Volusia-Flagler area, but not much beyond. Today, Ourseniors.net covers eight of the most senior-centric counties in the state of Florida, including the Volusia-Flagler area and also Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Lake and Polk counties. During that time, we have expanded our services to seniors to include our senior living magazine, our Brunch and Learn Events, the OurSeniors.net Directory of Approved Vendors, the unique professionals in the Senior Transition Pro Team and coming soon the OurSeniorsDiscounts.net Program which will connect senior-friendly businesses and services to the vital 55+ market. As we have grown, we have needed to add dedicated professionals to our staff, but not simply good workers or people who are technically competent.  We...

Have You Planned Ahead for Assisted Living?

Have You Planned Ahead for Assisted Living?

“Be Prepared” is wise advice. Throughout our lives, we try to be prepared for occasions like moves, weddings, bad weather and storms, and events of any type we can foresee.  Why is it that so many people never think about senior assisted living or in home care until the very minute it is needed? It just seems to be human nature to put off thinking about in home care or senior assisted living facilities. Many people seem to think that there will always be time to prepare for these events, but often it does not happen that way. Even seniors who have been successfully “aging in place” for years can suffer a sudden deterioration in their health or their ability to cope with routine tasks. The need to look for senior assisted living arises suddenly, without any warning, and the people affected are not at all prepared to deal with the situation. Emergency situations in which senior assisted living is needed quickly...

Senior Consumers, You Are A Powerhouse

Senior Consumers, You Are A Powerhouse

“Baby Boomers,” 55+ adults, even seniors who are in their 70’s, 80’s and above are recognized as a very important part of the consumer map. Actually, that is a great understatement. Here is what USA Today said over a year ago: “In the first quarter (2017), Americans 55 and older accounted for 41.6% of consumer spending, up from 41.2% late last year. Toss in 53- and 54-year-olds, and the Boomer-and-older set comprise about half of all consumption, according to Visa and Moody’s Analytics.” That is correct! If you are a “Boomer,” 55+ or older, then you and your fellow seniors account for about one half of consumer spending in the Unites States. This estimate came from the Visa Card and Moody’s Financial organizations. As a senior, you have clout and OurSeniors.net wants to help you use that power to your best advantage. One of the ways we do this is through our Brunch and Learn series, giving seniors and their loved ones a...
